My Students
Our school is nestled within a rural community full of hardworking families who strive to raise well-rounded children. As a school that places great value on meaningful and supportive relationships, we recognize the need for strong ties to our community because we know that without their support, educating thoughtful, respectful, and innovative students would be a difficult endeavor.
As a "rural-fringe" school, it is highly important to us to continuously challenge and expand all of our students' perceptions of the world and the many cultures that exist so that they are able to understand the different facets of the human condition from a personal, community, and global perspective.
As our school population continues to become more diverse, we continue to place a high degree of emphasis on developing the capabilities to support the needs of all of our students and their families so that engaging, innovative, and relevant learning takes place.
My Project
Art has traditionally been an outlet for creativity; be it the abstract expression of thoughts and emotions or literal interpretations, art allows for an unencumbered exploration of the human experience that is oftentimes not predicated on the constraining rules of reality. Innovative techniques and enlightening perspectives on the human condition have consistently come from the realm of art and I would like to continue that tradition within our classroom through the use of an HTC Vive Virtual Reality System which will combine the areas of S.T.E.M. and the freedom of Art. The Vive system will allow my students to experience the stunning achievement of a combination of S.T.E.M. and Art which will forever change their idea of the words "possible" and "reality".
Help us integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) in our English class with an HTC Vive Virtual Reality System.
I hope to offer my students a fully immersive "canvas" that is 360 degrees, interactive, malleable, and one in which they are a part of, and living within, as they build, paint, and innovate within an environment that is truly unique and mind-bending.
Virtual Reality has come a long way toward its application and relevance to education and, as such, it has truly opened up classrooms to have mind blowing experiences such as "theBlue: Whale Encounter" or "Apollo 11 VR" and the HTC Vive is the most advanced system currently available that is fully supported through the availability of innovative programs and applications such as Google Blocks VR, Tilt Brush VR, and a plethora of programs that support, among other areas, S.T.E.M. and Art.
