My students need high-quality, high-interest books that provide support in our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) lab. Our goal is to ignite a spark that encourages them to explore!
Our students are eager, empowered, and engaged in the educational process. They are reflective thinkers and focus on embracing a growth mindset, always jumping at the opportunity to stretch and push themselves to the next level.
Our students are ready to take the lead in their own learning and crave authentic opportunities to practice those all-important 21st century skills necessary to be college and career ready.
As a school, we recognize the importance of fostering independence and higher order thinking by integrating 21st-century skills such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity into the learning environment. Our goal is to cultivate a positive culture of learning while ensuring that students are meaningfully engaged.
Our STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics) lab provides opportunities for students to practice this type of thinking and gives them ownership in their learning.
This unique area of our school promotes and encourages students to work in different configurations, explore, pose questions, solve problems, invent solutions, and innovate. Imagination and creativity are vital and can thrive in this environment, our students just need the time and resources to flourish.
My Project
Picture books are an integral tool that teachers use to ignite and excite students about a topic. Reading aloud to students is appropriate and encouraged at any age. Books such as "Iggy Peck, Architect" encourage students to allow their passions to come alive!
STEAM-centered storybooks have the potential to spark imaginative thinking and the possibilities will be endless!
These books will serve as a jumping off point into a new project or STEAM exploration.
When books are read aloud to students, they are given the chance to interact with the text and are encouraged to engage in deep discussions.
