Help me give my students amazing science discovery experiences using a light table to view real x-rays, microscopes to magnify the world around them, and other accessories to go in our very empty Discovery Center.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 18 amazing, intelligent, curious and eager-to-learn students. The problem is not that my students can't do and learn amazing things, it is that they lack the resources and opportunities needed. My students are full of potential, we just lack 21st Century resources needed in today's world.
I teach in a Title I, First Step Pre-Kindergarten public school program in a refugee city.
Many of the students in my school are identified as academically high risk and come from low-income households. My school provides 100% of our students with a free breakfast and lunch meal each day.
My Project
Children are born curious. My role as their teacher is to give them endless opportunities to explore science all around them. The light table and microscopes will allow my students to experience science first hand rather than reading about science alone. The slides, x-rays, stones, etc. will encourage and strengthen their natural curiosity and their desire to observe bugs, plant life, rocks, and other items found on our nature walks. By donating to this project, you will not only fill a need in our classroom, but you will help to expose my students to crucial science discoveries that will foster and strengthen their natural desire to wonder, observe, and be creative. Ultimately, with your help, perhaps these experiences to wonder, question, and think outside of the box will bloom a much needed future scientist or two!
