My Students
Our school is located in Bushwick, Brooklyn and we serve a student population of over 600 students from grades 3K to Grade 8.
We have a diverse student body. Most of our students come from low-income households. Over 30% of students are homeless or live in temporary housing. That being said, our school serves not only as a place of learning, but a safe haven and a space for most of our students to have their most basic needs met. We are in the process of creating a Maker’s Space Room that allows students to engage in collaborative and creative play. A space where a kid can be a kid while being inspired to design and engineer a variety of different things. It will serve as an extension of more traditional classroom learning activities. Furthermore, play is such an important learning tool and having a safe space to play is limited—and in New York, weather can be such a factor in being able to play outdoors. By getting an Imagination Playground Block set up indoors, we ensure all our students have a space to play inside our school.
