This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I remember those classic fairy tales being read to me and my classmates as a child. My teacher would read the stories and have us chime in during the repetitive lines in the book. "Then I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in", said the wolf in The Three Little Pigs. How about, The Three Billy Goat Gruff, "Trip, trap, trip, trap!" as we tapped our little hands on our laps. Or, in Goldilocks and the Three Bears, "Someone's been eating my porridge and it's all gone!" said the little bear. Well, those stories bring fond memories of my time in primary school. I want to do just that for my little students.

I want my students to remember and enjoy Fairy Tales as I did and leave a positive and lasting impact on their lives.

This Lakeshore Fairy Tales STEAM kit will instill a love of literature while implementing an interest in the area of STEAM. With this Fairy Tales STEAM kit, my children will not only increase their interest in Fairy Tales, but the kit will offer hands-on experiences that will enhance their understanding of literature and science. The children will have the opportunity to act on the lines using the animated puppets that each story comes with building on language and literacy skills. It will also promote creativity and mastery of early engineering. The children will become problem solvers as they discuss ideas and solutions to their literature and STEAM-guided creations.
