Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our STEAM classes are English elective courses students can take for fun. I am teaching two courses for grades 9-12: Dystopian Literature and Autobiography Reading and Writing.
My hope is to give students the opportunity to choose a piece of literature that interests them.
Students will read their chosen books in a book club format. Based on previous student responses, they have thoroughly enjoyed being able to choose a book, read it and discuss it with friends.
My students are mostly struggling readers who truly benefit from being allowed to choose their assigned reading.
