Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a National Board Certified Education Specialist working in a high school Title I setting that serves a diverse student population. The students I support are determined and persevere through social, emotional, and academic challenges. My Community-Based Instruction (CBI) class has contributed to the yearbook staff, attended school events, volunteered in the community, and served on the Associated Student Body (ASB). They thrive with movement and hands-on experiences. I am grateful to be their teacher and work to encourage them beyond their highest expectations.

As the semester ends, it’s time to refresh the classroom library with K–2 activity sets to help my students read fluently.

Fluency is the ability to read accurately with speed and prosody. Excelling in this skill will prepare my students for real-world careers in the STEAM field.

I also need to renew my IMSE Lab subscription. IMSE Lab aligns with the IMSE curriculum—whether Orton-Gillingham Plus, Morphology Plus, or both—and provides digital resources to support students’ reading, writing, and mastery of their IEP goals. This will also help students improve their fluency and prepare them for careers in the STEAM industry.
