Help me give my students care packages to alleviate stress. The reusable burlap bags will be used to package stress balls, motivational stickers, pencils and/or sensory rings to keep them focused on their STEAM classes.
My students are wonderful! I have a caseload averaging about 425 students. With graduation requirements now requiring three years of science (Bio, Chem, Physics), a CTE course, Art, increased math, etc. I often hear about their academic stress and pressure.
As we all are aware of, mental health concerns among high school youth is higher than ever.
Particularly anxiety and depression. With the added STEAM requirements on their course loads, I want my students to have access to stress relieving tools to help them stay focused and healthy.
My Project
Many of my students are looking to attend two year colleges, four year universities and trade or vocational schools after high school. Regardless of their post-secondary pathway, all of our students must complete a rigorous STEAM coursework to meet graduation requirements.
We are requesting reusable burlap bags for 1700 students to put together care packages!
The previous project included motivational pencils, posters and stress balls and rings for my caseload of 425 students (Lin-Rem). With the school closure, students will be returning in small groups to return books, clean out lockers and check-out. Now they will also take home a care package on their way out.
The items in these care packages will give our students access to tangible stress relieving and coping mechanisms, allowing them to focus and succeed in their STEAM courses and upcoming finals.
