Help me give my students Shrinky Dink supplies to design, color, cut out, and watch the power of heat on the Polystyrene Plastic shrink in the toaster oven.
All students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch. All students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch. The students come to school looking forward to my class because they absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! My goal is to allow them to experience activities that are not available to them at home.
STEAM and STEM activities are a big HIT, the students are getting to do hands-on activities with the supplies that we have gotten from DonorsChoose so far, time to add even more experiments into the mix with Shrinky Dinks by studying Polystyrene Plastic.
My Project
As a child and even now, I vividly remember the thrill of watching a Shrinky Dink transform before my eyes. After carefully drawing and coloring the artwork, there came that magical moment of closing the toaster oven window and watching. Help me bring Shrinky Dinks into my classes of middle schoolers who have never experienced this.
Students also learn the science behind Shrinky Dinks and the inspiring story of the two moms who invented the Shrinky Dinks company from their kitchen in 1973, to having a finished product at the end.
