My students need different ways to keep items organized in the classroom. Keeping materials out of reach using items such as the locking cabinet and the teach and store center, are ways to encourage communication.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are some of the most amazing kids around! They are all fun-loving and so full of life. We live in a low economic school district that was severely effected by Hurricane Harvey. The majority of our students come to us without the experience of any structured school setting. We are their first exposure to school and we try our best to make learning fun for them.

Students in our room are all diagnosed with a disability, with the highest percentage being on the Autism Spectrum.

They come to us with very few skills and are often disengaged from the world around them. Through the use of highly engaging activities, we are able to break into their world and teach the skills necessary to be successful in the school setting.

My Project

Keeping items well organized and labeled in the classroom assists with our students becoming more independent. They often need visual examples of how things are supposed to look in the classroom. Things such as the organization trays can assist students with turning their work in at the proper place.

The all in one teaching center will allow student to access their materials for the day independently.

We will also be able to keep materials out of reach in using the locking cabinet. This is a way to encourage communication in the classroom for our students who are usually reluctant to do so.
