This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine seeing students playing outside or walking to school in the morning while wearing just a simple long-sleeve shirt during the winter? Unfortunately, this is a common sight in my classroom and we need your help!

My students face many challenges.

They come to school with more burdens than any fifth grader should ever have to deal with. My goal is to provide a place where they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. Our Title One school is extremely unique, with 100% of the students receiving free or reduced lunch. There is only one other school with the same percentage in the state of South Carolina. We don't take this rank as an excuse to have a pity party, but instead, we use it as a source of motivation. As Nelson Mandela said, "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world." We encourage the students to dream and reassure the students that education what is going to provide opportunities for success! This success is achieved when students feel safe and cared for. For this very reason, I want to allow my students to have their very own hoodie sweatshirt as a way to both stay warm during the winter, and feel like a part of the team and family that we have become!

My Project

I am requesting uniform hoodie sweatshirts for my entire class to wear during the cold winter months that are here! We've read and studied Health and Wellness strategies all year long and they've applied what they have learned by staying active and moving during recess! We don't want to slow down due to the cold weather. I'd like to honor my students' hard work and efforts, by providing each of them with a class hoodie sweatshirt.

Students will be honored to have these hoodie sweatshirts and will be beaming with both class and school pride.
