Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are extremely resilient children who come from homes with families that really want them to succeed and do well at school. The majority of my students come from homes where English is not their first language and whose incomes present greater challenges. This pandemic has really surfaced even more inequities.

Having good technology on my end will help my students see texts with clear high resolution images.

I already have a beautiful collection of books that I would love to read aloud to my students and have them savor the illustrations. In addition, it would be so effective for shared readings that my students can see the words clearly on their screens.

My Project

My first and second grade students love a good read aloud book! Projecting clear images for young learners, whether it be a song book or a shared reading, will make such a big difference for them. Their ability to stay engaged via Zoom will matter greatly especially if the images, text, and illustrations are sharp and clear and inviting.

Story time is magical and needs to be more so during these trying times.

My students cannot get close enough to look at the pictures and imagine themselves in the stories and a good projector will bring them in, oh just a little closer.
