Though it is a historical fiction novel, they understand the implications of that tragic day as they walk in the shoes of of the main characters. \r\n\r\nThe students are making notes along the side, recording their thoughts using \"think marks\" that we call \"small notes on the side\" using post-it notes that would not have been able to done so well had we not had a copy for each student. They have so much to think about as they build empathy not only from the perspective of the Americans, but also the Afghanistan people. \r\n\r\nThank you for making it possible for my students to experience this event that is important to not forget through the reading of this novel. It has been such an eye-opening experience. This class set of novels will be used year after year.
