I have been a special education teacher in a diverse and urban school community for five years. I just started my third year as a resource specialist teacher. What makes my classroom special is that my students are always provided with equal learning opportunities and I never allow my students to give up on themselves. I always push my students to do well and encourage them to keep trying their best no matter how many tries it takes them. My students are absolutely dedicated and passionate about learning in the special education setting.
I want to teach my students to change their mindsets from "I can't" to "I can".
Throughout the few years that I've been teaching, I have met all sorts of students who have all helped me grow to become the teacher that I am today and I thank them every day for that. I have learned that different students learn in different ways and my students learn to adapt their learning styles so that they can continue learning new things. Then they can have the most valuable and versatile learning experience in my classroom.
My Project
Our school serves over 200 hundred students ranging from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Over 90% of the students qualifying for free lunch and breakfast. Most students have parents who are working multiples jobs to make ends meet. Due to these circumstances, students often come to school and go throughout the day leaving dirty from recess and lunch playtime which in turn makes it very difficult for individual learning to emerge especially if they are getting sick from germs and dust in the classroom or from their peers. My students and I will to use the proper cleaning products to maintain cleanliness and teach students proper hygienic practices in my classroom.
I want to be able to provide my students with a clean classroom and healthy classroom so that they don't get sick which prevents them from going to school.
I will have students practice cleaning the classroom as part of their daily routine since the classroom is like their second home. We need leaning supplies as a part of making our classroom a clean, healthy, and welcoming place for my students. We will use the cleaning supplies to clean our classroom to make sure that we are free from germs and dust that can get the students sick and keep the students at home where are they are missing vital learning time away from the classroom. We will students with nutritious snacks to keep them healthy. When students are healthy, they can come to school and put forth their best efforts to learn.
