My Students

This year I am the virtual teacher at our campus. I am serving students who range from Pre-K to sixth grade. My students come from a title one school, and although many of my families do not have much, they have the best kids in the world! These students are eager to learn, and are sad that they are not back in school. But they are making the best of it! They are showing up for classes and doing the assignments. Because I teach at a title one school, many families do not have proper materials to teach their students at their homes. Their parents work during the day and many sibilings are helping fill in the gap of the online learning. A lot of my families have parents who are still developing their English skills. But they are doing everything they can to support the students. Many families have lots of students! It is so fun to be able to get to teach all the children in one house hold! When I usually only get to see one each year.

My Project

A huge part of learning in the classroom is having centers, stations and worksheets to practice what you are learning and to engage the learner. My students need these materials in their homes.

They do not have printers, and can not afford to print the number of pages - especially the things that are colored at home.

Even myself, with my salary, can not afford to print all the things I know they could use and be successful at home because of the cost of printing in color.

With this printer, I would be able to print up to 5200 pages in color! With this I could create binders for all my students that have stations, task cards, and hands on materials that go with the topics they are learning each month. It would me it so much more like "real" school- and it would allow them to learn and be successful with activities that are geared for all types of learners- instead of just staring at a screen for 8 hours a day.
