My Students

My classroom is filled with eleven and twelve-year-old students from a small, rural community. These students have higher level ACE scores and have typically experienced some level of trauma that has negatively affected their personal and academic lives. Even though my students face many challenges, they come to school and do their best to find success.

Our school district's motto is to develop life-long learners.

Our school serves 6-8th-grade students, and according to state proficiency tests, a small percentage of these students are proficient in mathematics and language arts.

My Project

Our school servers a high percentage of poor and low income families. These families face many expenses at the start of the school year. School clothes and school supplies, combined with regular monthly expenses like rent, food, and gas make this time of year very stressful and difficult. When families have to choose between food or rent, it often means that a child's backpack goes empty.

Students need pencils, pens, paper, pencil boxes, and glue every day to be successful and ready to learn.

Help all my students to have the supplies they need all year long. Providing basic supplies means a lot to the students and their families. It means that they have what they need on the first day of school and every day after.
