This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are amazing. We are an urban school with some challenges but my students strive for excellence daily. They are insightful, engaging, risk-takers who set and meet goals daily. My students range from IB, gifted, ELL, ESL and students with special needs and circumstances. We receive students from all areas of the city and a majority are qualified to receive free and reduced-price lunch. We receive federal and state funding to help meet the challenges of an​ inner city school. While we are a school facing some academic challenges related to state testing, we are improving yearly and meeting several benchmarks.

My Project

Teachers and students need these materials to create a​ clean and engaging environment. Although these supplies seem basic in nature, they help keep students and teacher focus on the task at hand. We use dry erase markers daily to show work on the board, pencils for math assignments/assessments and we wipe the tables and calculators down at the end of each day. Students know that supplies are available for them to use and teachers do not have to worry about spending time and effort buying supplies. These supplies also boost morale at the beginning of the year when teachers can be overwhelmed and students are nervous about starting a new school year.
