Help me give my students best the opportunity to learn, play and explore the second they come to school. In my cart I have items for my morning work tubs for my students.
I am a kindergarten teacher at a title 1 school in West Valley Utah. Kindergarten classes at our school are very diverse. We have many diverse students that are just learning English in our classrooms. We have so many students that are eager to be at school to learn and grow! Majority of my students come from a lower socioeconomic background. School is a place where they can escape, learn, laugh and socialize with classmates their same age. No matter what is happening in their home, no matter if they have new clothes or the newest sneakers, they bring a smile to my face as they hug me and say, "good morning" as they walk in the door. That is the second they know they are somewhere they are loved, cared for and part of a family.
My energetic kindergarteners enter the classroom each day ready to learn, discover, and explore!
Kindergarten is such an amazing and wonderful year for children. They learn and grow so much in such a short amount of time. Kindergarten students are like little sponges ready to learn and absorb all this new knowledge.
My Project
At my school, the morning is a time often spent with kids trickling in, eating breakfast, working on some sort of work at their seat or getting on the computers. I would like to maximize the first 30 minutes of our day and get off to a great start with morning work tubs. My goal with these materials is to engage students with activities from the moment they walk into my classroom. I believe children need to use their imagination and express their learning through play.
Students will be able to create, build, read, write, and draw each and every day, using materials they choose.
Students will use the power of choice as they work together or individually to build with magnetic tiles, practice tracing letters, reading books on their level or work on their fine motor skills using Play Doh or using tweezers to count and manipulate manipulatives. I believe these learning activities will help our class start each day feeling successful by learning, playing, and creating together.
