Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at my school are some of the most creative people I've ever known. Maybe there is something about growing up in South Austin that causes them to think outside the box. They are funny, opinionated and passionate. I feel lucky to get to work with them everyday. Their parents work hard to provide them with a better life. The students understand the sacrifices their families have made for them, and as a result take the responsibility of getting an education seriously.
My Project
It's always good to start a new school year. It's great to start it off with all the supplies we need for the upcoming year.
Basics like facial tissue and hand sanitizer keep students healthy and in class.
School budgets are stretched to cover textbooks and classroom technology. There is nothing left to cover these essential items.
Multi-colored pens and markers are important for drawing complex three dimensional figures to explain concepts in geometry. Any markers that made it to the end of the year last year have dried up over the summer. Plus students are more likely to volunteer to demonstrate their work for the class if they get to pick the color they write with.
