This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Reading takes you places. Imagine the fun if you could take friends along for the ride.

Most of my students come from low income families, and many are English language learners.

We all know that reading skills are an important skill that students need in order to succeed. So we try to motivate the students by holding reading competitions and constantly working to put more books on the shelves.

My Project

My students work in small groups to help increase their literacy skills. We need new group sets of chapter books like Grumpy Pumpkins, Pee Wee Scouts and Stanley and the Magic Lamp so that we can continue to improve our comprehension skills. By working together the students are able to accomplish their goals as well as share an adventure with others.

Having multiple copies of different books allows us to expand the students exposure to literature.

They are able to see the story from not only the book itself but through the eyes of other students.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
