My Students

We are a small, rural school in northeast Georgia. We are a Title I community school that seeks to provide our students with experiences they might not otherwise have the chance to participate in! We want to make each experience unique and memorable.

Our students are amazing and deserve every opportunity to have a wide open future!

We are a family, and we want the best for each other. Together, we work to give everyone in our little community the best educational experience of their lives!

My Project

My fourth grade students are learning about our galaxy and solar system. They are studying the differences in stars, planets, moons, and other celestial bodies. In our room, two students take home a Celestron telescope every weekend and participate in some stargazing at home with their families. Before we do this, I would like for them to build their own telescope to learn about the parts of a telescope and how a telescope works.

By building their own telescope, my students will take more ownership of their learning and have a product to be proud of!

Understanding how technology has helped us understand what is beyond our world is an important part of the state standard and inspires students to begin thinking about the possibility of astronomy as a career.
