This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school library wants to create a Starfish Society where students will read the book Starfish by Lisa Fipps and be encouraged to unapologetically be their own fabulous self just like Ellie. This project will add to our copies of the novel, as well as several social emotional games and resources to encourage students to support each other and build a positive community. I am hoping to create a weekly club where we will read the book together and complete different activities both to encourage the members and also to teach them to stand up for themselves and others. I want to foster a positive community on my school campus through helping students build up their peers.
