With our school population of almost 800, 100% of the students are living in apartments. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 85% of our students receiving free lunch. Students have the option to receive free breakfast daily through a program at the school that is open to all students.
Our school has a diverse population of students from various countries who speak a variety of different languages.
Many students will come to our school for the first time and never have learned to speak English. I have assisted our school in providing a variety of resources such as weekend food bags for students, free eye care and exams, dental screenings, a free food pantry, and a clothing closet.
It is said a camera is the save button for the mind's eye. So many of my students can't wait to be the "star of the class" by volunteering for a class story, skit, song, etc.
My classes are requesting instant cameras and film so we can capture their big moment and bring home a picture to share with their families and friends!
We need instant photo cameras and film. When students volunteer to be the class actor, actress, volunteer, artist, etc, we will snap a photo and send it home so students can share their big moment! Years from now, students can look back on how far they have come and how much they have learned.
