Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of today's students struggle with engagement at 7:30 in the morning, especially after staying up late the night before to either work or help with taking care of their younger siblings at home. These circumstances affect many of my students, who are noticeably less productive earlier in the school day.

Some students need movement.

Providing this alternate seating option will be incredibly positive. As a secondary use, the standing desk will also provide a standing platform for students to deliver presentations in class, ensuring their confidence while speaking to an audience. Speaking to an audience, a real life skill, is a defined expectation in my World Language classroom.

In order to evaluate the impact of this project, I will track the use of the desk and see how it has led to improved performance and engagement in my classroom.
