This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our ESE classroom, filled with bright and enthusiastic students with autism, Down syndrome, and intellectual disabilities, is in need of a major upgrade. Our current desks are no longer functional - they wobble, break, and simply cannot provide the stable and stimulating environment our students deserve. Replacing these outdated eyesores with standing desks with fidget features would be a transformative step towards improved learning and focus for our special needs students.

Many of our students struggle to sit for long periods.

The benefit from movement and kinesthetic learning. Standing desks would allow them to engage with lessons in a more dynamic way, subtly expending energy that might otherwise manifest as disruptive behavior. Studies have shown that standing desks can improve focus and concentration in students, which can lead to better academic performance.

These desks are more than just furniture: they are tools that can empower our students to succeed. Our students face significant challenges, yet they approach each day with a love of learning and a determination to overcome obstacles. New, functional desks would demonstrate our commitment to their success. Standing desks with fidget features would provide the physical and academic support they need to thrive in the classroom.

Replacing our broken desks with standing desks with fidget features is an investment in the future of our students. It's a way to show them that we value their education and well-being. By providing them with the proper tools and environment, we can unlock their full potential and help them achieve their academic goals.
