Our school represents a large variety of students from various countries all over the world. One hundred percent of the students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch, and we are a school-wide recipient of Title I funds.
Want to know one of my favorite parts of my job?
I love seeing the change that students undergo over the course of the year. I am fortunate enough to see kids develop ways to express kindness each and every day. They use manners that weren't present in August. I have seen students who loathe reading turn into book lovers. Few things make me smile like seeing my kids pull out a book when they have an extra few minutes. My classroom is full of faces and personalities that will impact our future world. As a teacher, I believe it is my job to do everything I can to make sure that impact will be a positive impact!
My Project
Interactive notebooks allow a student to create their own reference through creation of foldables, graphic organizers, and other activities. Students are encouraged to personalize their learning through color and design of their entries giving them ownership of their learning and a higher level of engagement. The output pages of their notebooks will also allow me to assess their understanding of material over a span of days, units, or months.
Colorful Pens, colorful papers, markers, and Pos-it Notes will allow our students personalize their notes, be creative with them, and allow them organization through color coding and highlighting they can not have with the use of pencils only.
The colored paper allows us to make our graphic organizers and foldables so they can stand out.
Interactive notebooks are also fun to create, which will increase student buy in in the mathematics and science classrooms. I hope to have these materials so we can begin our notebooks from the beginning of the year.
