My high school students are multi-talented human beings and dedicated musicians. They are creative, hardworking, and kind both inside and outside of the classroom. They are motivated learners eager to participate beyond requirements in our performance ensembles - taking up responsibilities to conduct repertoires; forming chamber groups to perform student-arranged music, and support each other while learning (older students actively offer to help younger ones without me having to ask).
We are a closely-knit community of music learners, stride toward creating music and expressing oneself through performance.
Each day students will come to band/orchestra class and setup quickly then eager to warm up and start our daily music-making process. Students on various occasions expressed their interests in guiding their own learning by suggesting new repertoires, a new form of ensemble performance (pit orchestra, jazz band, etc.), and seeking out extracurricular performance opportunities for the group (performing for community events, nursing homes, etc.).

My Project
Having basic tools to use is important in learning any subject content. In music performance ensembles, having access to basic quality music stands that are both durable for school use, and portable for outside performance is essential to the growth of our young musicians. More importantly, having a sufficient quantity of equipment will allow more motivated students to join the ensemble and explore their love of music-making without feeling unsupported.
