This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are just that—“a great, powerful, vibrant entity.” These young adults continually touch the lives of everyone around them each day.

Every rehearsal is a new adventure; a unique set of challenges that we, as the Eagle Band, tackle as a team. These challenges are basic: the need for more rehearsal space, the need for quality equipment, and (not to forget) the need for instrumental repair as only a thriving marching/concert band program of 186 requires! Our students describe themselves as a band “family”—a family that faces challenges headfirst with courage, love, and humor. They make the best out of any situation by leaning on one another for support, and they are constantly extending a lending hand toward others. Each member of this band family contributes his/her unique personality to strengthen the whole ensemble. We use music as a vehicle for creative expression, as a tool for learning life’s lessons, and as a way to set the foundation for a lifelong love of the arts.

My Project

Our project is simple and straightforward: we would like to purchase 18 more music stands for our Eagle Band students. We currently have 186 students enrolled in band classes. Our second period alone has over 100 students! We are always looking for ways to set up our students for success. Our ultimate goal is to put a music stand in front of each student so that he/she can read, play, and perform the music without having to share three (or sometimes even four!) people to a stand.

Franz Schubert once said, "Some people come into our lives, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same." Help us to “stand" up for these amazing students by leaving your footprints on their hearts!
