This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My band program is constantly growing. I am amazed to see what my students have accomplished in the last year. We just put on our first performance for the entire school and community. The students were immensely proud of themselves, and the parents could not contain their cheers!
My students are dedicated and passionate about our band program.
They work hard to learn their own parts and help each other succeed. They represent the true meaning of teamwork. When a student in their section is struggling they work together to accomplish our common goal. They do whatever it takes including rehearsing during their lunch periods and after school to make sure that their concerts are great.
The school and community are incredibly supportive. They truly understand what a music program brings to the students. However, due to budget constraints I am limited with supplies.
My Project
Currently my students are using broken plastic music stands to put their music on. The music stands are bent out of shape, missing pieces so they fall over. During our performance many of them were unusable and had to be thrown out. My students will use these much needed new music stands for all future rehearsals and performances.
My students work very hard to be able to play their instruments.
They deserve working equipment to help them achieve their performance goals. With these new music stands they will be able to focus on making music instead of if their stand will collapse during the performance.
