Stand Up for Active Engagement

My Project

My classroom is a dynamic space for student learning. We have nooks for reading, bean bags for floor seating, a floor table for seat work, high top tables, bar stools and standing options, as well as traditional height tables with balls and wobble stools and traditional chairs.

Collaboration rules the day, with students guiding the learning.

The one thing that would make the space even stronger is a standing table that could be adjusted up or down at will to allow for versatile presentations. I present and model skills for the students and students do as well. In my classroom, the students are teachers also. They make presentations and they model the learning. A table that could be raised when needed to ensure a standing a experience of the material as well as lowered when that surface is more appropriate would ensure that all students have access to the material at all times.
