My Students

I have a mixed group of active and awesome 6th, 7th, and 8th graders! They cycle through three classrooms to gain integrated and grade-level curriculum from three teachers. Any projects that get funded are available to the entire team of students and two other teachers to utilize and benefit from!

My students are highly active; doing multiple sports, music, chorus, band, outdoor activities year round.

They are from a variety of types of homes, the spectrum of upper to lower middle class economically. Our school sits in a rural location, but we are just a short distance from our state's capital city.

My Project

The standing tables will give students the option of standing to complete their work, on an appropriate surface and at the right height to work while they stand. My students are active, highly engaged students who just struggle to sit all day long. Standing with their papers or laptops on a higher stable surface will help them move appropriately.

These standing tables will allow them to choose where to work, and what is best for them.

This will encourage them to make healthier decisions. Research has shown that sitting all day is unhealthy for everyone, and standing tables can help students combat this habit!
