My Students

Our school community includes students who have a range of challenges, including intellectual, physical, and social/emotional. In spite of the challenges they face, they continually rise to the occasion and inspire me every day with their strong work ethic, positive attitude, and perseverance. They come from all around the world, often from very difficult situations.

Our school is brimming with dedicated and loving teachers who work together to foster the development of students who are dreamers, thinkers, collaborators, and questioners.

Our students are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them. School is a safe place for them and it is my goal to keep school a positive and fun environment that meets their diverse learning needs.

My Title I school is a magnificent blend of over fifty different spoken languages where most of our students come from impoverished families who are not literate in their native language or English. Our students want to learn and acquire an education, including someday attending college. They hold the American Dream, but need the tools to help make them successful. For many that means alternative seating options that allow them to experience a successful classroom experience where individualized learning is at the forefront.

My Project

My students need three Alphabetter Stand-Up desks to have the choice of standing or sitting throughout the day. Our kids are spending nearly 85% of their waking hours in sedentary positions.

Standing desks are a simple and functional way to create a movement rich environment where children are more engaged, perform better academically, burn more calories, eliminate or minimize orthopedic problems, and feel successful and empowered as learners as they choose alternative seating that meets their needs.

These desks will increase engagement and create an environment where kids can be continuously moving in a non-disruptive way as they take charge of their own learning.
