Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Coming to school is a safe haven for our students on campus. The pandemic has impacted education. This school year will look very different than any year in education. A majority of my students are Hispanic or Latino, in which 95% of the class is economically disadvantaged and qualify for free lunch. Many of my students have faced hardships that no 9-year-old child should ever face. Despite those hardships, they come to school with a smile on their face. Now my student do not have a safe haven where they can get meals and love from the staff members at our school. I will be teaching my students virtually until they feel safe to be on campus.
Many of my students’ families rent out a bedroom and all live in the bedroom together.
Most of my students do not have a lot. They have clothes and some basic toys. I want to give my students a classroom that students are excited to walk into where they have supplies to be successful and stay healthy. I am looking to fund projects that will help my students during this pandemic. Thank you for all your support!
My Project
I have created a project asking for stamps and envelopes. One might be wondering why I would be requesting these items.
I am struggling with all this change in education right now, therefore I can't image what my students are going through.
I am teaching virtually for the whole year ( as of now, who knows this might change tomorrow! Ever day is a new day right now.), and I want to be able to send my students happy mail to get to know the students and to also send rewards. I am big on praising students in the classroom, this year I think I might have to bring it hard with the prizes to get students buy in to this new virtual learning.
