My Students

These students are truly amazing! They are hard working, kind and supportive of each other. I love seeing them work together and the classroom community we have created brings a smile to my face every day.

This past year these students have gone through a LOT.

I teach at a Title 1 school where students are generally very sweet, parents are helpful, but money is tight. These kids had a very odd and rocky kindergarten experience with hybrid learning, online only learning and then classroom learning. I am hoping that this year they will feel love, warmth and care like never before. Yay for 1st grade!

My Project

In 1st grade I have learned a few things ... 1: kids are only interested in learning when it is also fun and 2: hands-on materials make learning stick! With those two things in mind, I picked out these stamps because I want to make a fun and educational writing center for my students. I already own letter stamps so my plan is to have the students pick a random picture stamp from a bag, then they need to sound how to spell the word and then stamp the letters onto lined paper. This will allow the students to sound out, write using stamps (fun!) and work on handwriting by stamping the letters in the correct places on the lines.

I know my students will LOVE this writing center!

For higher level kids I might let them pick 2-3 picture stamps and then write a sentence instead of just 1 word. This allows me to differentiate the groups with students of all levels still having fun learning. I cannot wait for my students to be able to use these, they will be SO excited!
