My Project

My students amaze, humble and surprise me each day with their talent and enthusiasm in art class. Our Title I elementary school population of over 800 students is extremely diverse, with large percentages of students originating from Central America, the Middle East, and West Africa. English is a second language for most of my students, and these students bring a variety of experiences linguistically, culturally and academically. The art room serves as a place for many students to express themselves through drawing, painting, and sculpture rather than through language, and is a place where diversity and creativity is celebrated.
