Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a school where 100% of the population comes from low-income or disadvantaged households. The school, along with our entire school district, qualifies as Title I. Our school is located directly off a major highway in California.
Many of my students come from first-generation households, of which many have parents who have never attended college.
My students come to school in hopes of having a safe, engaging, and collaborative classroom. School today can have many challenges. There is a high amount of crime and poverty in the area that our school covers, we hope to challenge students to overcome these challenges and prove that they too can overcome obstacles in life. With your help, we can make sure they have the materials for success, health, and happiness.
My Project
This project will give my students the stage to present their findings. We plan to study ancient civilizations, family and diversity, astronomy, water-cycle, bullying, and so much more.
The goal here is to give students a section of our classroom where they can speak their minds, show their hearts, and share their ideas with the world—our classroom.
The Forte Products display stand will be used as a student stage behind our new podium. The Upsimples 5x7 picture frames will be used as a colorful background filled with student pictures, quotes, and future aspirations. My students will see each day themselves growing and changing as we switch pictures throughout the year.
I think this project will help students to put a face on their words. Their own face. This will help my students to see themselves in the curriculum that we are learning about and exploring. They will know that we can hear them, literally. They will be seen, visually. Thank you for your donations to our classroom.
