Stacking Our Way to Success in PE!!

My Students

My students include the entire student body of 850 children, ranging from kindergartners to fifth graders. They are a diverse mix of kids representing all socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures. Physical Education is a welcomed part of the school curriculum that offers the brain a break and the body an opportunity to move. Physical Education provides students with a different set of challenges, goals and other avenues to experience success while nurturing students minds and bodies. This is accomplished through utilizing various equipment and teaching the students skills and activities that not only work their bodies but also work their minds!

My Project

Traditional Physical Education classes focus on specific sports such as football and basketball. I want to change that! Rather than teach students what they already know, I want to help them think outside of the box, and teach them new and exciting activities to keep their minds and bodies stimulated.

Sport Stacking is a fitness based sport that kids from all backgrounds and abilities can do.

It not only promotes physical fitness, but also promotes academic learning! Sport Stacking requires students to utilize both sides of their brain, which will spur brain growth and increase academic achievement.

The Speed Stacks that I am requesting for my classroom will allow me to share this fun activity with my students, develop their hand/eye coordination and enhance their academic achievement outside of PE class.
