My Project

Fred Rogers said "Play is the work of childhood". What better way to provide instruction for young children than through play? Without a solid foundation in letter and sound recognition, students face a significant obstacle to reading success.

Squishyland is an engaging game, similar to the familiar Candyland, that focuses on letter and sound recognition, rhymes, blends, vowel teams, and phoneme manipulation.

I have seen this resource advertised and feel so strongly about it's educational merit that I'm looking to bring this game to each of our kindergarten classrooms. This will be an excellent addition to our small group work, and provides differentiation for the needs of the students.

Additionally, I'm in need of a mystery box for letters and sounds as the other teachers already have one. Without a firm foundation in letter and sound recognition, students are at a significant disadvantage as they develop essential reading skills. Building these foundational literacy skills is critical to long-term reading success.
