Squeeze Some Fun Into Learning

My students need a Moving Mountains Squeeze machine to meet their sensory needs and help them to regulate their sensory systems so that they may be in an optimal state for learning!

My Students

Each day, I walk into a classroom to greet some of the most enthusiastic and energetic students you can imagine.

This fall, I will have the privilege of working with seven outstanding kindergarten, first and second grade students who have Autism.

All eight of my students are currently working hard to develop their language skills as they push themselves every day to develop academically. As a result of their Autism, in addition to communication and social challenges, my students also have unique sensory needs that vary from student to student. My students come from diverse backgrounds as our school serves a part of rural Virginia as well as our local military installation. Our school is a Title I school, with the majority of our students receiving free or reduced breakfast and lunch. My students are kind, caring individuals who strive to do their best at every opportunity

My Project

My students have Autism. As a direct result of their Autism, they struggle to regulate their sensory systems and maintain an optimal state of regulation for learning. They are bright and engaging students, but require sensory input that varies from many more traditional leaners. My students often seek proprioceptive input and this device is an amazing tool for providing that input. With this as a resource for my students, I know they'll be motivated to work and learn on a daily basis. This tool would support not only their academic growth and development, but also their growth and development towards Occupational Therapy goals.
