Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our high school is located in the heart of Napa Valley surrounded by impressive vineyards, rolling hills, beautiful farms and ranches, impressive estates, and a skyline dotted with hot air balloons.
What people don't realize is that not everyone who lives in Napa is privileged to wealth.
My students are the children of migrant farm workers. They were not successful in a traditional school. They are creative, diligent, and sweet, as well as conflicted and challenging. The odds are stacked against them. As a low-income school who serves English Language Learners, we are in need of technological resources to help us meet our 21st-century goals of preparing our students for college or to enter the workforce. Funds will help with our goal of meeting our 1:1 ratio of students: computers. Our school was directly impacted by the fires as we were out for 16 days. Many of our students were displaced from their homes due to evacuations and several lost their homes, pets, and livestock. Despite the stress and loss, many also rallied and worked long hours volunteering and working at their jobs to do all they could to help their neighbors with basic necessities and supplies.
My Project
Please help us purchase Chromebooks to help us meet our goal of providing each and every student on campus with access to technology that will enhance their educational experience, and prepare them to enter college or the workforce as computer literate individuals. This is all part of our district goal of preparing our students with 21st Century Learning skills. We are also in dire need of a printer as we currently have a classroom without access to a printer. Additionally, the mouse and ergonomic keyboard are needed as well to make things run smoothly here at our school.
