I teach 11th and 12th grade English at Valley Oak High School in Napa, California. VOHS is a continuation high school serving students who have under-performed and are at risk of not graduating. Students are able to reach their full-potential through interaction with teachers in reduced-size classes and web-based instruction. My students are adorable, eager to please, energetic, hard-working, imaginative, intelligent, and sweet. These children are also conflicted by the harsh realities that come from growing up in broken families or homes affected by hard times. In the face of adversity, they still manage to laugh, smile, and try their hardest. They are gentle, good, and sweet and hunger for more. All they really want is to be loved, respected, and given an opportunity to be children. School is where they are safe. They need more than what public funds provide. Please help!
