Students at my school come from a working class neighborhood that is very well integrated. They are every color of the rainbow and come from multiple backgrounds. One thing that they have in common is that many of their families are working multiple jobs and having trouble making ends meet.
Teachers, counselors, and other staff members frequently purchase basic need items for students who are not able to receive them from their families.
This school uses a program of catching students doing the right thing. There is an ongoing conversation about "being a bucket filler" by doing good things. They receive incentive "bucks" for good behavior and deeds.
I want my students to have the same fun, exciting and wonderful experiences I had when I was in school. School should be fun and safe for all students to learn.
My Project
Every Friday we have a technology day. We use all different kinds of stuff and the students have asked for SPRK. SPRK is Sphero’s complete educational robot to teach more hands-on coding and driving.
Students can easily learn programming, complete hands-on activities, and share their creations with the community.
Students will be able to program SPRK to do whatever they want. The goal is to design a track around the classroom and see which students can complete the course. Students will create and design everything. Wireless connection to the internet and iPad will help students be more flexible, creative and learning how to do more activities with SPRK. So let’s get this SPRK going. Thanks for supporting my classroom.
