My Project

Social-emotional learning is an important component for ensuring student success. This project will provide a variety of engaging new books to for our school's media center collection to support this critical component in our students' education. Students can use the books for independent, self-selected reading. Their teachers can use the books for classroom lessons and discussions.

Increasing access to books that focus on social-emotional learning will help our students to develop skills to regulate their own emotions and encourage kindness and compassion towards others in the school community, leading to enhanced success in school and in their relationships with peers.

This diverse collection of books will support student growth in a variety of social emotional skills such as self-regulation, coping, persistence, and relationship-building. Reading these books will provide opportunities to highlight these skills and to encourage students to apply strategies from the books in real-life situations.
