My Project

The learning is in full swing in my 1st-3rd grade Special Day Class. My students have accomplished many things in a few short months. I am so proud of their amazing ability to accomplish so much in spite of their academic and social challenges.

As we return from Winter Break, I want the enriching learning experiences to continue.

I am planning ahead and looking forward to spring. I read a story daily to my students. I like to have books that focus on the season or special holidays that fall within these seasons. I'm requesting books such as "The Thing About Spring" and "Lola Plants a Garden" to help students learn about all the things that happen during the spring. The Covid-19 Pandemic has really affected the social emotional development of my young learners. These books will help them learn about seasons and how they are celebrated.

I am also requesting puzzles. Puzzles can play an important role in students developing important life skills such as improved memory, better problem-solving skills, and improved visual-spatial reasoning to name a few. Unfortunately, these skills have also become areas of need since the Covid Pandemic. The brain teaser and jigsaw puzzles will definitely ignite the interest of my students.
