Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every month, my Transitional Kindergarten students look forward to the new opening of a themed dramatic play center in our room. Previous dramatic play centers have included an apple orchard, a pumpkin patch, a gingerbread bakery, Starbucks, and a post office.

I have seen many students grow in confidence as well as social and academic skills through our dramatic play setups!

Their language and problem-solving skills have grown through play, and in our most recent dramatic play center, writing skills have blossomed. It is an organic way for young students to learn and grow through the mode they love most--play!

For the end of the year, I would like to create a Garden Center to match our science units of springtime plants and insects. While I plan to supplement with items from the dollar store, it would be an amazing transformation to have a garden center stand and wheelbarrow! Thank you for considering donating to our explorative play!
