Spring Forward into a 21st-Century Classroom!

Help me give my students a chance to comfortably step into the 21st-century. Help my students keep cool with fans and clean seating to improve their reading as the temperatures rise.

My Students

For many of my students, this will be another year of reading intervention.

My students are resilient, and, although they struggle with reading, they have a strong desire to improve.

They have been working extremely hard to overcome the reading and writing challenges they face with the help of the innovative program they are a part of which is called Read180.

As we are working through March and approaching the end of the school year, the desire to work hard and the "love" and "excitement" of reading is dwindling away.

What's an even bigger obstacle is that our building was erected in the 1950s, and it's getting hot and uncomfortable in here. Please help provide their basic comfort needs so that they can focus on their learning and reading goals.

My Project

I am hoping to help keep my students cool and comfortable as they enter my classroom in the last few months of school. With perfectly sized box fans for the windows and some cool LED string lights, I can keep the overhead lights off and set the mood for calm and COOL learning.

My students are NOT used to 21st-century furniture.

My bookshelves are breaking and books and materials are falling out of the back of shelves, so the time for new bookcases is upon us. Our school building was built in the 1950s, and much of the furniture in my classroom is also from the late 1990s. I am hoping to spring forward into the new decade with a classroom refresh.

My students are incredibly well-deserving of a refreshed classroom, especially since they're expected to make huge reading gains by the end of the year in the Read180 Intervention class.
