This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My players are learning the game of lacrosse, and how skills learned on the field translate into real-life situations. I feel this game provides a great opportunity to help our student-athletes grow as young men. They represent our school with pride and play the game with passion.

The lacrosse team has one of the highest GPAs in the school.

Last season we had our fourth straight winning season and again played for the District Championship. Our school is a Title I school in which 93.6% of the student population qualifies for the free or reduced-price lunch program. Our student demographics are 79.3% Hispanic, 17.8% Black and 1.4% White. We also have one of the highest migrant populations in the state at 41.4%

My Project

The game of lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in America. On this trip our players will compete against high schools in different states. We are going to play teams from Nort Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

Our town is a small, farming town located in the rural area of Collier County, Florida and our families have limited funds available to contribute to their children’s sports trips.

By traveling out of state to face new opponents our players will see how lacrosse is played in different geographical regions and use that knowledge to grow their skills. When we return home to play teams from Florida our players will be able to apply the new skills.
