Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a DLI teacher at an Equity Focus School, I am passionate about helping my youngest learners grow into kind, confident leaders.
In our classroom, we celebrate kindness, respect, and the beauty of our different "Abilities" every day.
This project will give my students the chance to take the lead in spreading kindness throughout our school to help everyone feel included and loved.
Students will create simple digital messages, short videos, and posters that promote friendship, kindness, and inclusion. These projects will be shared with other classrooms, displayed around the school, and shown during morning announcements to help build a positive school culture. Student-made projects with positive messages will also be posted on the office TV so that everyone walking into our office is inspired. To build kindness and school culture awareness, and pride, we will take pictures of school events to share with our community.
An iPad will be a powerful tool for this project. My students will use it to record kind messages, create slides to be displayed in our office, and take photos of our different school events for our parents. This technology will allow them to express themselves.
This project supports the Allstate Foundation’s Service Stars “Spread Kindness” goal by giving my Dual Language Learners a voice in making our school a warmer, more welcoming place for all.
