My Project

I work with 23 Kindergarten students in an immersion classroom. In Kindergarten, we talk a lot about being kind to others.

Having students engage in spreading kindness is the best way to teach it.

My goal is to have students display acts of kindness and engage in community service, whether it is an act of service, making cards, giving gifts, cleaning outside, or spending time with others. Students will make kindness cards for other classes. My students are still working on writing and drawing. The white boards will help students practice their work and draft it before we put it on card stocks. We want to make sure we are doing our best work before giving it out.

The trash pickers will be used to pick up trash and recycling outside. This act of service and kindness will benefit the school as well as the neighborhood. Another act of service is cleaning classrooms with a vacuum. In a school of over 700 students and only 2 custodians, our school classrooms are not being vacuumed every day and we have to do it ourselves. The vacuum will not only help teach kindness but also responsibility. We can help clean each other's classrooms to lesson the load for our custodians and show that we care about each other.

The other part of the project is to show kindness by holding friendship circles/groups. During the friendship circles, students will spend time working together to build lego projects, make bracelets, and cards to pass out to other students. Students will work on various skills and being kind to others.

We hope to spread kindness and make others smile. By spreading kindness, I am hopeful the gesture will continue and be paid forward to make this world a better place!
