Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten students are excited to learn this school year! They come in every morning eager to fill their minds with new knowledge. They are fun, energetic and ready to face the new adventures that school brings. We spend our days exploring books, singing songs, playing hard and learning lots!
As a teacher in a low-income urban area, my students face many challenges in and out of school.
Many of my students also speak another language at home. This is something that can be a challenge, but we are working to utilize this to their advantage.
Their challenges will not stop them. They are hard workers who are dedicated to their tasks, whether writing their name or sharing kindly with a friend. They are capable of amazing things every day.
My Project
These materials give my students the opportunity to move around the classroom and work where they are comfortable.
These items give my students flexibility in their learning and helps them develop a sense of ownership in their learning.
The clipboards allow them to have a hard surface to complete their work while giving them the freedom to spread out around the room and find a space that works for them. The lap desks serve a similar purpose but allow for more space and can be used in during center time.
The dry erase markers and sleeves are items we use every day in the classroom for a variety of things and go through quickly.
The plastic caddies help hold everything together. Groups of students can put their pencil cups, dry erase sleeves and crayons into them and find a comfy place to collaborate.
